FO Alert: Powder Wrap

Powder Wrap by Casapinka Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Starry Night Mix (3.3 skeins - 725 yds) Cast on: 3/28/21 Cast off: 5/9/21 After discovering how much I love worsted weight shawls and watching a ton of people in Casapinka's facebook group knitting this, when I needed a break from socks, it was an easy choice.  I made the biggest "design element" of my knitting career on this project. Half way through the cables, I picked this up one day, and pretty much forgot the difference between right and left. I swapped the direction of allllll of the cables, and didn't notice for a few rows. I decided to go with it and am surprisingly happy with the way they turned out. I did switch back to the correct direction for the last cable row to make the transition to the ribbing a little neater, but it was a nice feeling to embrace my mistake and turn it into a feature that makes my wrap unique.  This has taken me so long to post because blocking an...

WIP Roundup 5/6

I haven't updated lately, but I've had my hands on quite a few things in the last couple of weeks, but even still, I  feel like I've lost my knitting mojo.  I can't get myself to focus on the projects I'm "supposed" to be knitting.  I'm under massive stress in my professional life, and it's definitely been affecting my personal life.  I have made a lot of knitting plans, including a MKAL I couldn't resist,  with deadlines lately  and I reached a point a couple of weeks ago where the knitting felt more like an obligation than the fun, relaxing hobby it's supposed to be.   so, i picked up my powder wrap instead of working on the projects that were stressing me out.  It's a comforting knit - larger needles,  super soft and squishy, and a fairly simple pattern.  Knitting in worsted (the absolutely delicious Berroco Ultra Alpaca) also has the benefit of a sense of instant gratification. A couple of hours of knitting has a ve...

Weekly WIP Roundup 4/3

It's been a few weeks since my last WIP update and I'm posting a few days later than planned, but my non-knitting life continues to be incredibly busy and I've missed my knitting time. I keep daydreaming about my WIPs waiting for me at home and casting on new projects.  The ESK Yarnathon 1st Quarter Mosaic KAL wrapped up on Wednesday, and the last few weeks I was feeling a little stressed about the projects I needed to get done. Of course, "need" might be a little dramatic,  but I had grand plans for the quarter that eventually degraded into reasonable plans as March snuck up on me,  and I was determined to finish my three projects.   I did manage to finish all three: Geometrica , Pucker and Impossibly Possible .  I even finished and submitted my projects a few days before the deadline! Those extra days turned this into a cast-on week! The second quarter KAL is socks,  and the amazing Lisa Ross is hosting a sock KAL that started the 1st as well. I d...
