Year in Review

2021 FO Pile

Last night I finished my last FO of 2021. Of course I have a ton of WIPs, but none of them are close enough to finish before tomorrow night.

2021 has been another crazy year.  The world's still dealing with a pandemic and nothing is quite back to normal. As I start to reflect,  my year was filled with too much work, major challenges related to having a chronically ill partner,  and normal, every day challenges. It was also filled with love,  a few adventures,  and lots of time for knitting.  Pandemic life has turned us into almost complete home bodies.  I absolutely don't say that in a negative way.  While occasionally getting out has its advantages,  spending time at home has let me focus more on what brings me joy - my family and my crafts. 2020 brought me back to my love of knitting, and 2021 has allowed me to develop new skills,  explore further than ever before and engage with a community of people who share my passion.

I'm not a very speedy knitter,  and I spend more time at work than anyone should,  so I am very proud of what I have accomplished this year.

I developed a new love of cowls:

Gaptastic, Cross Stitch, Reno Casino, Lush Brioche

I focused way less on shawls after spending 2020 making so many of them, but I still finished a few:

Hoarfrost, The Knights who Say Knit, Geometrica, Powder Wrap

My goal was to knit 12 pairs of socks, and I successfully finished 14 pairs:

Raspberry Cordial, Kindred Spirits, Have a Heart, Scoop's Ahoy, Sumu

The socks of Green Gables (Raspberry Cordial, Lady Cordelia, Green Gables and Kindred Spirits), Hermione's Every Day Socks, Pucker, Tree Farm, Curling Mist, Wookie, Impossibly Possible, Colour Twist

I focused more time on garments and have created some of my new favorite things to wear:

Birdwatcher, Wolf River, Leaves Shell and Dimabala

Other things
Brioche ear flap hat, Dude Hat, Boreal Hat and Mitts

Check out all of my projects on ravelry for more info.

I'm really looking forward to continuing my knitting growth into the new year and can't wait to see what I create.
