Farmer's Daughter Fibers Rocky Mountain Purls in Strawberry Shortcake (108 yds)

Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Rosewood (31 yds)

Spun Right Round Classic Sock in Spaced Out (70 yds)


I needed a quick sock project to reach some yarnathon goals. Throwing some leftovers together, this is what I ended up with. I'm pretty happy with my first real pair of shorty socks and have been enjoying wearing them.

Year in Review

2021 FO Pile Last night I finished my last FO of 2021. Of course I have a ton of WIPs, but none of them are close enough to finish before tomorrow night.  2021 has been another crazy year.  The world's still dealing with a pandemic and nothing is quite back to normal. As I start to reflect,  my year was filled with too much work, major challenges related to having a chronically ill partner,  and normal, every day challenges. It was also filled with love,  a few adventures,  and lots of time for knitting.  Pandemic life has turned us into almost complete home bodies.  I absolutely don't say that in a negative way.  While occasionally getting out has its advantages,  spending time at home has let me focus more on what brings me joy - my family and my crafts. 2020 brought me back to my love of knitting, and 2021 has allowed me to develop new skills,  explore further than ever before and engage with a community of people who...

weekly WIP Roundup 3/13/21

I skipped last week's round up,  because life got in the way and I didn't get much knitting done. This week wasn't much better,  but I do have a few bits of progress to share.  Curling Mist I've almost finished the legs, and I like how they're looking,  but I'm still having trouble getting excited about knitting these socks.  Impossibly Possible  I cast on these amazing  Impossibly Possible  socks last weekend and I absolutely love them, though I haven't had a lot of time to focus on them. It's been quite the learning experience so far.  This is my first attempt at toe-up socks. It took several tries to successfully employ Judy's magic cast on.  This  video  was incredibly helpful.  Then the heel calls for German short rows,  which I had never done before.  I'm not sure what my problem was,  but it took several tries to get right.   I love the mosaic,  the f...

Sweaters!

 I think my biggest knitting accomplishment of the last few months was actually finishing Birdwatcher. After the hem, it was endless stockinette and I couldn't focus at all. Fortunately, i took it with me on a trip that involved quite  a bit of time in a car. It was perfect car knitting! I got so much done on that trip, that I was able to finish it up pretty quickly. It is now one of my favorite articles of clothing to wear and I can't believe I let myself take so long to make it! Birdwatcher by Casapinka Cast on: 6/6/21 Cast off: 10/5/21 Yarn: Miss Babs Yummy 2-ply in In The Meadow. 2.65 skeins (1058 yds) Maybe by most ambitious project of the year, Wolf River is not something I would have thought to make without the Yarnathon .
