Weekly WIP Roundup 2/6/21

Finishing my Sumu socks earlier than expected,  I dedicated Sunday knitting to making some progress on the MKALs I'm behind on. I ended up only touching one of them, but I made some good progress.

Clues 1-3

I had completed Clue 3 a couple of weeks ago, but it sat neglected in my project bag for a while. Last weekend I made it through clue 4 and 2/3 of clue 5. Last night and this morning I finished clue 5 and 6. In the meantime more clues were published.

Clue 5-6

I really love this project,  and I'm really looking forward to finishing. Clue 8 was released yesterday,  so I'm not too terribly behind.  I've been cheating a little and looking at the charts for the next clues, and I'm super excited for the mosaic to get a little more interesting soon. There are still 3 clues yet to be published,  and I have a feeling it's going to end up being awesome!

Also,Reason #245642 that I love KALs: forums full of helpful tricks like how to knit 1x1 cables without a cable needle. I used to know how to do the twists,  and last time I knit socks with a cabled cuff, I couldn't remember for the life of me.  Using this trick has made this so much easier!

Valentine's Day Socks

On Monday I cast on some new socks for the ESK Yarnathon Flash "Craft Your Heart Out" KAL. They are so cute! And are going very quickly. I finished the first sock on Thursday, after only spending a few hours each night on them. I cast on the second one this morning and hope to get at least the leg done today. I chose to knit one at a time, because the thought of wrangling three colors and TAAT was a little too intimidating. I substituted a short row heel, and I can't wait until they are done so I can wear them!
Yarn: Cascade Heritage Sock in Lunar Rock, Dream in Color Smooshy in Black Pearl (left overs from a previous project), and Northbound Knitting Merino/Nylon Fingering in Velvet Underground (which is much more purple than it shows up in pictures)

In non-WIP news, my terrible picture of my Sumu socks is now featured on the pattern page on ravelry! I partially wish I had taken photos somewhere other than sitting in bed with the dog, but it definitely feels good all the same!
Hopefully I'll get to update soon with some finished socks and we'll see if I can resist casting on all the socks I want to start right at this very minute. I have a bad feeling this afternoon or tomorrow might turn into a cast-on day!  One day I'll stop working 55 hours a week and get to knit everything I want. Until then,  I'll keep enjoying the time I do have (even if it's at 3:30 am because the dogs decided it was time to get up) and spend my days dreaming about getting to go home and knit.
