weekly wip Roundup 2/27/21

In my effort to resist casting on new projects,  I planned to spend some time on a few WIPs I've been neglecting. However,  I picked up my Hoarfrost, and haven't been able to put it down!

This worsted weight shawl is so soft and fluffy and is working up beautifully in KnitPicks Preciosa Tonal. I started it in November,  and didn't make much progress until this week.  I think I struggled to focus because I couldn't make the pattern seem intuitive.  After working a few rows last weekend,  it suddenly clicked. I got the hang of the ribbing and flew through the last 15 repeats.  A few nights ago,  I began the lace section.  I've never been much of a lace knitter,  but this pattern is great.  It's easy to remember and has been going pretty quickly.

I also had my first scare with interchangeable needles while working on this. I was using wooden tips, and one started to separate from the metal connector.  Luckily,  I had another set of size 8 tips and was able to change them,  but it was definitely nerve wracking to feel the needle sliding around under the stitches.
The more I sit and work on it,  the more I keep falling in love with it. I love the squishy softness,  and I'm such a fan of how pretty and quickly this is  coming together,  I definitely compulsively ordered some more worsted yarn and have been browsing patterns. I have several more big, squishy shawls planned.  I'm thinking either  honey moss (another Andrea Mowry design or  Richland, which actually calls for dk, will be next.

I'm hoping to finish this weekend,  and then I need to get back to work on a few socks!

See you soon,
Xo uhlissa
